Loughborough town market hosts a series of University lectures, taking place on and around the Market Lectures stall, coinciding with the town’s market days. Market Lectures, part of the year-long Radar project Market Town, was a commission carried out by design collective Something & Son involving Loughborough market vendors and University lecturers trading places.

Huge success for studio sessions

Can Altay’s commission for Market Town, Loughborough Records Presents Presence, saw the upper floor of the Market Town Corner undergo a surprising transformation as we entered 2016. With the aim of capturing the ‘sound of Loughborough’, Can designed a pop-up recording studio that also functioned as a sculptural installation, and invited local musicians from all genres to come and share their sound. The studio was accessible through individual slots and drop-in jam sessions, and provided both the more commonly used instruments and the services of professional sound engineer Robin Chapman.

Market Town: Big news from Brand News

Some of you may have noticed that the Market Town Corner recently had a noticeable makeover, but no need to worry; it was all in a good cause! Brand News, the commission delivered through a collaboration between artist Kathrin Böhm and designers An Endless Supply, has begun the series of participatory workshops that will see it rebrand the entire stock of local independent newsagent Ashby Square News.
